How to Fight a Cold

What is cold? Which factors causes the common cold?

 

When we have following symptoms runny/stuffy nose, sneezing, coughing, "chills" and a headache & slight fever. Everybody tries to avoid it. But then also it comes. And the most dangerous think is its beginning! First two days body pain and throat gives trouble. If cold occurs frequently then it can change our voice.  In some cases cold damages ear. Can create difficulty in breathing as well as throat can sore.






 

First we will know what causes cold.

 

No doubt that cold is viral disease; it transmits easily from other people.

(Shaking Hands, Door knobs, Cinema Halls, Public places, Common phones, Travel etc.)

There are several viruses causing cold. The most common virus name is known as “Rhino”. This virus goes nose cells and there starts reproduction.  In regular cases our natural immune system speedups blood circulation in vessels through inflammation and boosts mucus creations. These both process causes for runny / stuffy nose. If Rhinovirus goes in lungs cells then starts producing mucus / sticky fluid which we call as cough. The fighting between our blood cells and this virus takes several days. The color of mucus gets changed due to dead cells during fight over the time.  

  

Precautions and preventives:

 

We always say precaution is better than cure. Following are some tips will surely prove helpful:


1.   During winter days while travelling use mask / handkerchief.
2.   Wash your hands with soap for many times.
3.   Avoid touching your hands to your nose and eyes and mouth.
4.   Avoid ice-cream / deep freeze food.
5.   Using turpentine oil a drop or two on your hanky will help you much. 

But what to do if cold enters in your body. We have seen do & don’t. 
Here are some useful remedies to fight cold naturally.

1.   Avoid going out and use mask / handkerchief as a social animal.
2.   Use salt in glass of medium temperature water to gargle.
3.   Take steam at lest 4-5 times per day.
4.   Drink Luke warm water.
5.   Eat Dry fruits & Chane.
6.   Taking hot soup is also advised.
7.   Use warm cloth in winter.
8. Ginger Tea / Garlic (Lasun) is also helpful. can be taken as per choice.
